Building a sustainable tomorrow KierBAM are a Joint Venture (JV) partnership between Kier and BAM UK & Ireland - BAM UK & Ireland's infrastructure segment is currently delivering the redevelopment project at a Royal Navy site located in Plymouth and we are seeking an experienced Service Locator. The Service Locator will carry out the physical check and survey of all of the underground services within the area that is being investigated, the Service Locator will have the following responsibilities. You will use various geophysical techniques to locate the service, once they have been found, the services will be marked/spray painted onto the ground in the appropriate colour, defining the type and depth of the service. You will also maintain the contents of the permits on site, making sure the workforce remains compliant with conditions and processes outlined within the permits. Due to the site being a high-security military naval base, additional security checks will be required a BPSS level of security clearance is necessary. These checks can take up to 8 weeks to process. Only candidates holding EU, NATO, 5 Eyes, or MISWG member passports and who have been UK residents for the last 5 years can be considered for this role. Your team Location: Devonport Dockyard, Plymouth Contract: Permanent, 42.5 hours a week Making Possible In this role as Service Locator, you will be working in a live MOD facility. Your day-to-day tasks will include: Authorise Permit to Break Surface Ensure compliance with and enforcement of the project permit for the Break Ground procedure Review method statements tailored to specific tasks Mark all services within the work boundaries to protect colour standards Provide teams with an overview of the services within their designated work boundaries and discuss methods for working around those affected services. The Job youll do The successful applicant will report directly to the Sales Director whilst supporting a busy production team. Ideally with a background in machining and with experience of calculating time spent on tasks within a machine shop. Calculate job costs using company ERP system, EFACS. Utilise sketches and drawings to determine task times in a conventional machine shop. Source material and subcontract prices. Proficient in Excel and Word with good experience of ERP systems. Ability to work within a small but multi-disciplined team. Mechanical Engineering background.
