Swarmaero
Swarm Aero is redefining air power, building the largest swarming UAV and the most versatile swarming aircraft network in the world. The company is moving quickly to launch the first aircraft designed specifically for swarming, as well as the Command & Control software to mobilize swarms of thousands of heterogeneous autonomous assets and empower human operators to achieve superhuman results. The team has created and exited multiple startups, negotiated defense deals worth billions of dollars, and designed and built 30+ novel aircraft, with aerospace experience from Scaled Composites, Airbus, Archer Aviation, Blue Origin, and Boom Supersonic. About the Role We've built an autonomy stack that already runs on real programs and real hardware, and we designed it to be platform-agnostic from the start. The next step is the one that matters most: scaling it onto our own aircraft to field the largest drone swarm in the world. We're looking for a Software Engineer, Autonomy to own that stack and lead the work. This is a high-leverage technical role. You'll own the architectural direction for the perception, planning, and control systems running onboard every vehicle in the swarm, and you'll raise the bar for the autonomy engineers building around you. What You'll Do Own and evolve our autonomy stack, extending proven robotic foundations with agentic AI for onboard reasoning, adaptation, and swarm coordination at scale. Harden and extend the inter-robot and C2 communication protocols behind tactical swarm decision making on the edge, including under degraded and contested comms. Revisit and defend the hard technical tradeoffs as we move to aircraft and scale: onboard vs. offboard compute, centralized vs. distributed decision making, determinism vs. adaptability. Some of our current answers carry over. Some won't survive the move to airborne compute and contested comms. You'll decide which. Take autonomy capability from integration and test into fielded operation, and close …

The team has created and exited multiple startups, negotiated defense deals worth billions of dollars, and designed and built 30+ novel aircraft, with aerospace experience from Scaled Composites, Airbus, Archer Aviation, Blue Origin, and Boom Supersonic. About the Role Most software engineers never see their code tested against reality. At Swarm Aero, that's the baseline. We are looking for a Forward Deployed Software Engineer to embed directly with U.S. government and military customers and own the technical success of our C2 systems in the field. You will be the person who makes our software work -- not in a lab, not in a staging environment, but in real operational contexts across domestic and international deployments. Austere locations, high-stakes timelines, and complex distributed systems are the job. This is a full-scope engineering role. You will build critical integrations, debug core services, contribute to new development, and ship solutions that warfighters and government operators depend on. If you want to write code that matters and see it run in environments most engineers never touch, this is the role. What You'll Do Build and own critical software integrations that bring our C2 systems to life in customer environments -- from initial deployment through production reliability across diverse hardware configurations and operational contexts Debug complex distributed systems issues in the field, analyzing logs, network traffic, and system performance to resolve failures fast and with minimal support Contribute to core service development alongside the engineering…

About the Role We're looking for a Perception & Sensor Fusion Engineer to develop the algorithms that give the largest drone swarm in the world an accurate, shared picture of the battlespace. This is a deep algorithm role for someone who lives in the details of detection, tracking, and estimation, and wants to see their work fly. What You'll Do Train, tune, and test automatic target recognition and track management systems using the latest advancements in neural networks. Develop multi-sensor fusion and state estimation algorithms (Kalman filters, particle filters, multi-target tracking) running onboard resource-constrained vehicles. Design distributed fusion approaches that combine tracks across the swarm into a single coherent picture. Rigorously characterize algorithm performance against real-world flight data and simulation. Optimize models and estimators for real-time inference on edge compute. Write clean, maintainable, and efficient code. Travel up to 25% of the time for onsite test and integration events. Basic Qualifications MS or PhD in Robotics, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Applied Math, or related field, or equivalent depth of applied experience. Demonstrated expertise in estimation theory and multi-target tracking (Kalman/particle filters, JPDA, MHT, random finite sets, or similar). Hands-on deep lear…
