Describe your role in a highly successful team project

Why interviewers ask this

This is a chance to show you can accurately describe your specific contribution within a group effort, rather than either over-claiming credit or disappearing into "we" language that hides what you actually did.

What a strong answer covers

• What made the project successful, defined concretely (a metric, a launch, a customer outcome)
• Your specific role, distinct from what the rest of the team did — be precise about your slice of the work
• At least one moment where your individual contribution was clearly load-bearing to the outcome, not just present
• Genuine credit given to teammates for their parts, which paradoxically makes your own claimed contribution more credible

Common pitfalls

• Answering entirely in "we" language with no clear statement of your individual role
• Claiming outsized credit for a team effort, which interviewers can usually tell apart from a well-calibrated answer
