The team has created and exited multiple startups, negotiated defense deals worth billions of dollars, and designed and built 30+ novel aircraft, with aerospace experience from Scaled Composites, Airbus, Archer Aviation, Blue Origin, and Boom Supersonic. About the Role We've built an autonomy stack that already runs on real programs and real hardware, and we designed it to be platform-agnostic from the start. The next step is the one that matters most: scaling it onto our own aircraft to field the largest drone swarm in the world. We're looking for a Software Engineer, Autonomy to own that stack and lead the work. This is a high-leverage technical role. You'll own the architectural direction for the perception, planning, and control systems running onboard every vehicle in the swarm, and you'll raise the bar for the autonomy engineers building around you. What You'll Do Own and evolve our autonomy stack, extending proven robotic foundations with agentic AI for onboard reasoning, adaptation, and swarm coordination at scale. Harden and extend the inter-robot and C2 communication protocols behind tactical swarm decision making on the edge, including under degraded and contested comms. Revisit and defend the hard technical tradeoffs as we move to aircraft and scale: onboard vs. offboard compute, centralized vs. distributed decision making, determinism vs. adaptability. Some of our current answers carry over. Some won't survive the move to airborne compute and contested comms. You'll decide which. Take autonomy capability from integration and test into fielded operation, and close …

About the Role We're looking for a Perception & Sensor Fusion Engineer to develop the algorithms that give the largest drone swarm in the world an accurate, shared picture of the battlespace. This is a deep algorithm role for someone who lives in the details of detection, tracking, and estimation, and wants to see their work fly. What You'll Do Train, tune, and test automatic target recognition and track management systems using the latest advancements in neural networks. Develop multi-sensor fusion and state estimation algorithms (Kalman filters, particle filters, multi-target tracking) running onboard resource-constrained vehicles. Design distributed fusion approaches that combine tracks across the swarm into a single coherent picture. Rigorously characterize algorithm performance against real-world flight data and simulation. Optimize models and estimators for real-time inference on edge compute. Write clean, maintainable, and efficient code. Travel up to 25% of the time for onsite test and integration events. Basic Qualifications MS or PhD in Robotics, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Applied Math, or related field, or equivalent depth of applied experience. Demonstrated expertise in estimation theory and multi-target tracking (Kalman/particle filters, JPDA, MHT, random finite sets, or similar). Hands-on deep lear…

This is the work that decides whether capability survives contact with real hardware in the field. What You'll Do Build and extend components across our autonomy stack: planning behaviors, vehicle software, sensor and payload integration, and simulation. Grow the on-vehicle software platform into a real integration surface for first and third-party sensors, payloads, and software modules, so new capability drops in instead of getting rebuilt each time. Create and validate physically realistic simulations of UxS, and keep sim honest against what we actually see in flight and field test. Prototype electronics and troubleshoot complex mixed hardware-software systems, including the failures that only show up on real vehicles. Write clean, maintainable, and efficient code. The team has created and exited multiple startups, negotiated defense deals worth billions of dollars, and designed and built 30+ novel aircraft, with aerospace experience from Scaled Composites, Airbus, Archer Aviation, Blue Origin, and Boom Supersonic. Legion's Command & Control platform lets a single operator plan, direct, and execute missions across a networked swarm of heterogeneous aircraft, in real time, over intermittent comms, at a scale nobody else in the industry is attempting. That means distributed state under unreliable networks, dense telemetry moving fast enough to strain anything you've built before, and interfaces for a problem space that barely has prior art. You'll work across the stack, wherever the hard problem is that week. WHAT YOU'LL DO Build and ship features in the C2 system that directs swarms of heterogeneous aircraft Work on systems that hold state and stay responsive when comms degrade or drop entirely Move between the interface layer and the services behind it, following the problem rather than a job description Prototype new ways to represent and control vehicle telemetry, sensor data, and scheduling Take features end to end, from a rough problem statement through design, implementation, and deployment Ship early and often, backed by strong CI/CD, QA, and DevSecOps WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR Degree in Computer Science, a related technical field, or equivalent self-taught depth Real strength in fundamentals: data structures, algorithms, concurrency, networking, systems Evidence you've built something hard because you wanted to. The team has created and exited multiple startups, negotiated defense deals worth billions of dollars, and designed and built 30+ novel aircraft, with aerospace experience from Scaled Composites, Airbus, Archer Aviation, Blue Origin, and Boom Supersonic. Most backend roles ask you to wire up an API and move records in and out of a database. This one asks you to build the systems that keep the largest drone swarm on the planet coordinated in real time. You'll help architect the backend for Legion's Command & Control platform: the systems that let a single operator plan, direct, and execute missions across a networked swarm of heterogeneous aircraft, in real time, over intermittent comms, at a scale nobody else in the industry is attempting. This isn't CRUD. It's real-time distributed systems, high-throughput telemetry pipelines, and infrastructure for a problem space that barely has prior art. WHAT YOU'LL DO Help architect the backend for a C2 system directing swarms of heterogeneous aircraft Build distributed, collaborative real-time infrastructure for controlling large numbers of aircraft simultaneously, even when comms drop Design and build the services that ingest, process, and distribute dense vehicle telemetry, sensor data, scheduling, crew resources, and data link management, much of it with no existing playbook to follow Own backend features end to end, from design through deployment Ship early, ship often, backed by strong CI/CD, QA, and DevSecOps WHAT YOU'VE DONE Degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience 6+ years building complex backend systems with real di…

The team has created and exited multiple startups, negotiated defense deals worth billions of dollars, and designed and built 30+ novel aircraft, with aerospace experience from Scaled Composites, Airbus, Archer Aviation, Blue Origin, and Boom Supersonic. Read this part first Somewhere out there is a sourcer who is better than their job title says they are. They hit their numbers at a company that never let them talk to a hiring manager. They found the candidate nobody else found and watched a recruiter take the credit. They have been told to be patient, to wait for the next cycle, to earn it. We are not going to make you wait. What we do We build autonomous aircraft and Legion, the software that flies hundreds of them as one coordinated swarm. Series A, backed by Khosla Ventures, and Coatue. We are hiring software engineers and aircraft engineers at the same time, which is hard, and how fast we hire is one of the few things standing between the current aircraft and the next one. That is not a motivational line. It is the actual constraint. Recruiting is on the critical path here, and you will be able to see your work in the flight schedule. The job You own top of funnel for our software engineering roles: backend, frontend, autonomy, forward deployed. You will be reading GitHub profiles, writing outreach that engineers answer, and building searches that keep producing after the obvious names are gone. Then the interesting part. Inside your first year you move onto the aircraft side: propulsion, structures, avionics, manufacturing, production. Almost nobody sources both. The pe…

The team has created and exited multiple startups, negotiated defense deals worth billions of dollars, and designed and built 30+ novel aircraft, with aerospace experience from Scaled Composites, Airbus, Archer Aviation, Blue Origin, and Boom Supersonic. The Role Great technology loses to good technology that reaches the customer first. You'll hire the people who make sure ours gets there, and the people who keep the company running while it scales. This seat owns hiring for Mission and defense business development, business operations, finance and accounting, real estate, and marketing. The searches are fewer, but every one of them matters. Many are the first hire in a function: the finance leader who takes us into our next stage, the real estate lead who helps stand up a new facility, the capture and program people who put our aircraft and software in front of the warfighter. We treat them like the high-stakes searches they are. The Work Own full-cycle hiring across Mission, business operations, finance and accounting, real estate, and marketing Recruit defense BD, capture, program, and mission roles with real credibility, and know where those people come from: primes, defense tech startups, the Pentagon, and the operational force Run senior and first-of-kind searches like an executive search partner: map the market, calibrate early, and close hard Be the advisor first-time hiring managers didn't know they needed. Challenge the role when it's wrong and help define what great looks like Build relationships with future leaders before we need them, so the next search starts war…

The team has created and exited multiple startups, negotiated defense deals worth billions of dollars, and designed and built 30+ novel aircraft, with aerospace experience from Scaled Composites, Airbus, Archer Aviation, Blue Origin, and Boom Supersonic. The Role Right now our factories are floor plans, early equipment, and a handful of people who've done this before. In a few years they need to produce aircraft at rate. You'll help find everyone in between. You'll be a core part of our manufacturing hiring across two sites: our Oxnard HQ and a new facility in Northwest Arkansas. Early on, that means landing the few people who set the foundation. Later, it means scaling fast without lowering the bar. When manufacturing hiring is lighter, you'll flex to support other teams across the company, so you'll never be short on work or on range. The Work Own full-cycle hiring across manufacturing, industrial, quality, tooling, and production roles at both sites, from technicians on the floor to the leaders running them Learn manufacturing well enough to follow a layout review. Composites, tooling, process development, and factory ramp: you should know what good looks like Recruit from where the talent actually is. Automotive, EV, consumer hardware, and high-rate industrial manufacturing are often better sources for us than legacy aerospace Build our Northwest Arkansas talent pipeline from zero: schools, trade programs, local manufacturers, veteran networks, and community partners Hire ahead of the scale-up. Build relationships today with people we may not hire for two years Flex to sup…

The role You'll be a core member of the team that builds and runs the infrastructure behind Legion. Working alongside our DevSecOps lead, you'll own day-to-day pipelines, environments, and deployments so our engineers can move quickly without breaking the things operators depend on. This is a hands-on role for someone who likes building systems more than writing tickets about them. What you'll do Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines that take Legion from commit to production across multiple environments Manage infrastructure as code for cloud and on-prem deployments Run and scale containerized services on Kubernetes Build out observability: monitoring, logging, alerting, and on-call tooling Package and deploy Legion to customer environments, including travel to customer and test sites when deployments require it Partner with our DevSecOps lead to bake security and compliance requirements into the platform from the start Help engineers ac…
